Tom Haczewski announced as New Chair of Trustees

The Gorleston Pavilion Trust is delighted to announce the appointment of its new Chair of Trustees, local business leader and long time supporter of the Pavilion Tom Haczewski, who succeeds Alex Youngs (the trust's new Chief Executive) in the role.

Tom has been a trustee of the registered charity for a little over a year and has since played a vital role in the the transitioning of the Pavilion Theatre away from a privately owned business and into the hands of the trust, with an ambitious set of regeneration plans to boot.

Tom said of the appointment "I am excited to take up the role of Chair of the Gorleston Pavilion Trust, at such a pivotal and important time.

"The theatre has an incredibly rich history and a deep connection with the community, and it’s an honour to help continue the legacy of revitalising this cherished venue, ensuring it remains a vibrant hub of culture for many generations to come."

The trust's Chief Executive, Alex Youngs, has recently revealed plans for a multi-million pound funding bid to help secure the future of the late Victorian original shelter hall building, which will take around a decade to fully complete.

This work has already started with a recent successful planning application granted for emergency repairs to the theatre's roof.

Of the plans, Tom commented "We have ambitious plans including a restoration project to restore and enhance the theatres facilities, which is a huge challenge and responsibility that the Trustees are careful to observe.

"The Pavilion is more than just a theatre. It’s a symbol of resilience, community and creativity which we as Trustees respect and value. I’m excited to have a small part in protecting and supporting the Theatre as we work to ensure it thrives for the next 125 years."
